Diabetes: the first signs that are rarely paid attention to

Diabetes is a chronic disease caused by metabolic disorders due to a deficiency in insulin synthesis and an increase in blood sugar levels. The danger of the disease is that at first it does not manifest itself in any way. Experts have told about the first signs of diabetes, which are usually not paid attention to.

Loss of visual acuity

The first symptom that is worth paying attention to is loss of visual acuity. If this happens regularly, you should consult a doctor, as the situation may only worsen over time.

Skin discoloration

Another symptom is darkening of the skin and skin folds. This usually occurs because the skin of a person with high sugar levels develops insulin resistance.

Dry mouth

A sign of diabetes can also be a feeling of dry mouth that periodically appears. In addition, constant dry mouth can accelerate the development of diabetes due to increased blood glucose levels.

Feeling of hunger

People with diabetes experience an acute feeling of hunger due to glycemia – a condition in which blood sugar levels remain high for a long time. Because of this, glucose does not enter the body's cells, and they do not receive the necessary energy, sending a hunger signal to the brain.

Other early signs of diabetes include:

  • itching in the hands and feet;
  • nausea;
  • numbness in the feet and legs;
  • long healing of wounds;
  • constant fatigue;
  • sweet smell from the mouth;
  • sudden and sharp weight loss.
