Difficulty getting up from a place was called a possible sign of diabetes

Type 2 diabetes is characterized chronic hyperglycemia, when the level of glucose in the blood is too high. The peculiarity of the disease is that it often develops without symptoms. Recently, experts discovered one atypical sign that may indicate diabetes.

It is noted that persistently high blood sugar levels often cause neuropathy. This is a general term for nerve damage in diabetes. According to the Mayo Clinic, if a person has difficulty getting up from a sitting position, it may signal proximal neuropathy.

This type of neuropathy, also called diabetic amyotrophy, is noted to often affect nerves in the hips, buttocks, or legs. Symptoms usually appear on one side of the body, but can spread to both.

In addition to difficulty in lifting, a person with type 2 diabetes has the following symptoms:

  • severe pain in thighs or buttocks;
  • weakness and contraction of thigh muscles;
  • severe abdominal pain.

Treatment of diabetic neuropathy is to stabilize high blood sugar. In addition, the patient should change his lifestyle: follow a certain diet, reduce the consumption of carbohydrates, regularly do physical exercises.
