Disrupts metabolism and sugar levels: the danger of morning coffee has been discovered

Scientists have identified the danger of morning coffee drunk on an empty stomach – this ritual disrupts metabolism and normal sugar levels, contributing to its increase.
Experts from the University of Bath have found that the morning habit of millions of people around the world – drinking coffee after waking up to feel energetic – can be harmful to health. They discovered that such coffee has a negative effect on metabolic processes and disrupts blood sugar levels, making them higher.
Rare episodes of drinking morning coffee before breakfast do not pose a threat, but systematic drinking of coffee on an empty stomach poses a real danger, scientists state. Such a habit can contribute to the development of diabetes.
Scientists conducted an experiment with the participation of several dozen people, who consumed the aromatic drink in different ways. Some volunteers started their morning with coffee on an empty stomach, others first had breakfast and only then drank it. The researchers tested the blood of the subjects. In addition, the quality of sleep and the degree of sleep deprivation were taken into account.
The authors of the work concluded that the greatest danger to metabolism and the processes of regulating sugar levels in the body is morning coffee, drunk on an empty stomach after a restless or sleepless night.
“We know that almost half of us wake up in the morning and, before doing anything, drink coffee. But caffeine in a certain way affects the control of blood sugar levels – it is disrupted when the body first receives a dose of caffeine, especially after a sleepless night. “Morning coffee on an empty stomach impairs glucose metabolism, which can potentially lead to diabetes,” said lead author of the study, Professor James Betts.
The scientist postulated that the risks of this disorder can be reduced if you drink coffee not before breakfast, but after it.
