The nutritionist noted that when taking statins, antibiotics or antidepressants, it is necessary to pay special attention to the diet. The fact is that dried meat, cheese and grapefruit juice can have a bad effect on health when combined with these drugs.
Benjamin Bowers, nutritionist and founder of Satia, warned that taking certain medications together with various drinks and foods can have a bad effect on health.
It is not recommended to combine antibiotics with dairy products. Because of the latter, antibiotics will be absorbed worse by the body. Usually, experts advise not to consume dairy products at the same time as antibiotics and for several hours after taking the medication. However, you can eat cream cheese or cottage cheese even when taking fluoroquinolones and tetracyclines. The main thing is not to eat these products in large quantities.
It is better not to consume grapefruit juice and statins together. The fact is that citrus fruits (especially grapefruit) can increase the likelihood of developing serious side effects or make the medication less effective.
Finally, you need to give up sausages when taking antidepressants. These are monoamine oxidase inhibitors. It is not recommended to mix these antidepressants with aged cheese (cheddar, gorgonzola) and meat (prosciutto, chorizo). Wine can also cause a dangerous jump in blood pressure when taking these drugs.
