Most cereals should be washed 2-3 times, pouring fresh water each time. This makes it possible to remove foreign impurities, dust, empty grains.

But each grain has its own washing procedure, and some cannot be washed at all, for example, semolina. Rice, millet, pearl barley, and barley are washed twice with warm water (30-40 degrees), and the third time with hot water (60-70). It is generally recommended to wash millet seven times! But buckwheat, wheat groats are enough only 1-2 times.

Try to cook porridge without washing and with it. And you will feel the difference in the taste of porridge. And then the question of whether to wash the cereal or not will disappear by itself!
