Doctor: a tendency to tears indicates the aging of the body

Tearfulness is one of the physiological signs aging of the body, doctors confirm.
The older we get, the more factors can cause our tears. It's not even about those situations that have an emotional impact (although many people with age begin to cry sentimental tears more often).
Tearing becomes more frequent due to the influence of environmental factors – wind, cold, bright sun. In some cases, people are surprised to notice that their tears on the street do not just stand out in front of their eyes, but flow like real crying.
The ophthalmologist's comment explained why lacrimation increases with age. According to the doctor, the tendency to tears is related to the natural process of weakening body tissues – a decrease in their density and elasticity. In particular, says the doctor, as old age approaches, the eyelid begins to fit less tightly to the eyeball.
“We have such a “water pipe” that goes to the corner of the eye, a tear is produced from it, moistens the eye and goes through the channels into the nasopharynx. , we don't feel it at all. With age, elasticity is lost, and the eyelid begins to move down, it does not fit tightly to the apple. As a result, the tear that collects the tear moves away, and part of the tear fluid flows out of the eye,” the doctor said.
There is no medicine to solve this problem. You can wear glasses that protect your eyes from the irritating effect of bright light or wind, but some discomfort will still remain. A more serious measure for increased lacrimation is blepharoplasty (plastic surgery on the eyelids with a lifting effect).
But the doctor emphasized that the procedure should be performed with high professionalism. Most often, blepharoplasty is performed for an aesthetic, rejuvenating effect. But when it comes to the elimination of excessive lacrimation, it is necessary for the surgeon to ensure the possibility for tears to go through the channels into the nasopharynx.
