Doctor calls mashed potatoes one of the most useful dishes for colds

Therapist: dishes in the form of meat souffle and mashed potatoes will benefit the body with a cold.
The doctor said in an interview that when the body's immune system fights SARS, toxins accumulate in it. During such a period, digesting food becomes an energy-consuming process, while the body functions at the limit of its capabilities. At the same time, food gives the body strength and nutrients that prevent further weakening of the immune system.
The doctor noted that light food containing vitamins and trace elements would be optimal for a cold.
“Meat souffle and mashed potatoes with a small amount of milk are the best dishes for people with a cold, flu, or ARVI,” the doctor said.
The therapist added that carbohydrates and fats help restore the body’s strength. He called their best sources for a cold: sugar-free cereals, fruit (in small quantities), chicken broth, and dairy products. Onions and garlic will not be of much use for an already existing illness. Also, during a cold, you should refrain from eating anything sweet – sugar slows down the elimination of toxins. To better cleanse the body of them, you need to drink more water and teas, and unsweetened fruit drinks and compotes are also suitable.
“Salty foods are categorically contraindicated for a sick person. Salt retains fluid in the body, and during illness it needs to be removed,” the specialist explained.
