Doctor talks about a trendy diet that causes gout

A dietitian spoke about a fashionable low-carb diet that can cause gout. According to Yulia Chenokhina, a senior research fellow at the clinic at the Federal Research Center for Nutrition, Biotechnology and Food Safety, such a diet involves a significant restriction in carbohydrates and a large consumption of protein foods.

In addition to gout, such a diet can lead to diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, heart and blood vessels. The fact is that one of the side effects of a high-protein diet is stone formation.

You should also know that such a diet is rich in purine bases. These natural organic compounds not only provoke the processes of stone formation, they can cause an increase in uric acid levels and the development of gout.

The doctor emphasized that the fashion for various diets is a big mistake, since they do not teach the main principles of proper nutrition. First of all, the diet should be varied and balanced. It is such nutrition that will allow you to maintain health and strength.

By the way, American cardiologists, after one of their recent studies, proved that people on low-carb diets may encounter one of the most common heart rhythm disorders – atrial fibrillation.
