Doctor warns of health risks of “homemade” food from the store

The doctor warned about the health dangers of “homemade food” from the store, if the composition, conditions and shelf life are violated. Endocrinologist, dietitian, nutritionist Anastasia Tarasko spoke about the possible harm of “homemade food” from the store.

According to the doctor, such dishes are not harmful in themselves, but only if they are prepared according to technology. The danger of store-bought homemade food lies in the use of inappropriate products: for example, instead of tomatoes grown in the sun, greenhouse tomatoes can be used, instead of butter, margarine can be used, etc.

But the most important thing is violation of storage conditions and terms. If these requirements are ignored, buyers may receive something tasteless instead of the desired dish or the matter may end in food poisoning.

In addition, the manufacturer or seller may incorrectly indicate the calorie content and amount of protein in relation to the composition. Various flavor enhancers, dyes and preservatives may also be added to the product.
