After 40 years of eating for breakfast foods rich in carbohydrates, but at the same time depleted in healthy fats and protein, can have a detrimental effect on the figure and weight, nutritionists warn.
Breakfast is considered a very important meal during the day: after sleep, the body needs to replenish its energy reserves, and a properly prepared breakfast contributes to this. But after 40 years, when the metabolism slows down, some foods can become a real “calorie trap”. Their use only complicates the problem of slowing down the metabolism and can lead to rapid weight gain.
What do nutritionists advise to remove from the menu?
First of all, it is better to avoid breakfast eating foods with a high content of carbohydrates, but with a low content of healthy fats and proteins. In particular, a variety of baked goods.
“The combination of refined wheat and sugar is unacceptable if you want to maintain a high level of metabolism,” experts clarify.
Why are sweet pastries so harmful?
It is not only the high content of sugar or calories that causes concern to doctors. Muffins, muffins, rolls or croissants eaten for breakfast lead to sharp fluctuations in blood sugar – its level first rises rapidly, and then falls very quickly, because the body begins to actively produce insulin to stop this growth.
< p>The rapid drop in sugar levels causes a feeling of hunger, which is activated by the brain, which is concerned about the decrease in glucose. Such a feeling cannot be controlled. As a result, more food is eaten during the day and a surplus of calories occurs in the body. Over time, a diet high in simple carbohydrates can lead to obesity and diabetes.
Instead of sugary pastries or muesli containing sugar, nutrition experts recommend a nutritious breakfast that boosts metabolism.
“A balanced breakfast of protein, fat, and complex carbohydrates (with fiber) is important, especially for women over 40. Such a breakfast provides long-lasting satiety, prevents overeating and weight gain”.
