Paracetamol is one of the most common over-the-counter drugs. Medicines have a wide range of applications – from back pain to getting rid of hangover symptoms. Doctors have told how safe it is to use paracetamol on a daily basis.
Usually the tablets of this drug contain about 500 mg of the substance, the effect of which can be seen within an hour after use. Doctors note that paracetamol should not be taken with other drugs that have a similar effect or contain the same active ingredient.
The peculiarity of this analgesic is that it can be taken even by pregnant women, but in moderate quantities. In 24 hours, an adult is allowed to consume no more than two paracetamol tablets four times a day.
The medicine can be taken with or without food, while the interval between the first and the next dose should not be less than four hours. Drug overdose can cause serious complications. Doctors emphasize that the liver suffers greatly when abusing paracetamol. There is also a risk of increased bleeding when taking it regularly.
As doctors note, it is necessary to combine the medicine with other drugs with caution. For example, an analgesic can be used together with other antipyretic tablets that contain an alternative active ingredient. These include aspirin and ibuprofen.
Also, paracetamol is often prescribed together with antibiotics. However, in the presence of epilepsy or tuberculosis, the drug should be taken with caution. Before using paracetamol, experts advise to consult your doctor if you have similar diseases.
