The main risk factor for developing lung cancer is smoking. Two more: physical inactivity and poor-quality air in homes, doctors stated.

British doctors published an article in which they pointed to three main, in their opinion, causes of one of the most insidious and aggressive types of oncology – lung cancer. The particular danger of this type of cancer is that it develops asymptomatically for a long time and manifests itself only at an advanced stage.

“Smoking is still one of the main risk factors for the development of lung cancer,” experts said.

Smoking. According to experts, quitting smoking reduces the risk of developing lung cancer regardless of a person's age and duration of smoking. In any case, when quitting the bad habit, the lung tissue starts a recovery process, which reduces the likelihood of oncology.

Experts also emphasize: the influence of passive smoking is also a significant factor in the occurrence of lung cancer.
