In a study published in the Journal of Physical Activity and Health, experts monitored the blood pressure of two groups of elderly people. The first walked briskly for half an hour a day, five days a week. The second spent the same amount of time stretching.
As a result, it was found that after eight weeks of the experiment, a large number of people from the last group had a significant decrease in blood pressure. Doctors explained that when a person stretches muscles, the same thing happens with blood vessels, which improves blood flow.
At the same time, doctors noted that you should not completely replace other aerobic exercises with stretching. They should be combined with each other to get the maximum benefit.
