The combination of herring and beets in a popular dish allows the body to fully benefit from their consumption, doctors state.
Doctor Herman Gandelman spoke about the beneficial properties of herring under a fur coat.
“Herring goes perfectly with beets: these products enhance and improve the effect of each other,” the doctor noted.
According to the doctor, when eating beets, the body produces nitric oxide more actively, which is a strong natural vasodilator. Thanks to this combination, the body's ability to maintain optimal blood pressure is improved, which prevents the development of problems such as impotence and dangerous vascular disorders.
“Regular consumption of beets reduces blood pressure by up to eight millimeters of mercury,” said cardiologist Herman Gandelman.
In turn, herring provides the body with a large amount of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, which have the property of reducing the content of “bad cholesterol” in the blood, the accumulation of which is associated with the development of atherosclerosis and the risk of heart attack. The doctor said that sufficient intake of omega-3 reduces the risk of death from a heart attack due to cholesterol-clogged arteries by almost a third, by 30 percent.
