After conducting research, scientists developed the optimal diet for people with hypertension. Doctors said that fatty dairy products and red meat are contraindicated in such a diet.
American scientists conducted a large study in which 4,500 volunteers aged 13 and over participated. The experiment was conducted at one of the medical schools in North Carolina and consisted in identifying the relationship between the optimal menu for people with hypertension and changes in blood pressure.
The tests conducted showed that when following a special Dash diet, the risk of developing heart failure is halved. Also, when using this principle of nutrition, the risk of stroke, obesity and even some cancers is reduced.
The Dash diet was created specifically for people suffering from hypertension. The basis of this diet is the rejection of sweet carbonated drinks, red meat and fatty dairy products. Food harmful to hypertensive patients is replaced with neutral and healthy: diet meat, low-fat dairy products, nuts, whole grains, lots of vegetables and fruits.
The diet also involves giving up snacks, reducing the nutritional value of one meal by 200 calories. This makes this type of diet safe and beneficial for those who are overweight.
