Doctors told what tests you need to take to detect cancer in the early stages

There is a lot of information on how to recognize cancer by a number of symptoms. But doctors note that cancer can only be diagnosed on the basis of medical research and tests.
According to the chief oncologist of the European Clinic of Surgery and Oncology Andriy Pylyov, ideally cancer screenings should be carried out taking into account age, gender, and the presence of chronic diseases in people.
“If we are talking about a general medical examination, then you should first of all undergo the simplest examinations – ultrasound of the abdominal cavity and small pelvis, fibrogastroscopy, and for women – mammography. It is important to undergo a colonoscopy – after the age of 45,” Pylyov said about the tests that allow you to detect cancer in the early stages.
As for donating blood for tumor markers, the doctor considers this procedure unnecessary. According to Pylyov, testing blood for tumor markers can only confuse the situation due to the large number of both false-positive and pseudo-negative results.
Another specialist, an oncologist, added that to detect any possible cancerous formations in the chest, low-dose computed tomography of the chest or large-focus digital fluorography should be performed. He noted that these examinations are much more effective in diagnosing formations than conventional fluorography.
In addition, the doctor noted the importance of a stool test for occult blood – this examination allows you to detect intestinal cancer in the early stages.
