Doctors warned about the symptoms of iron deficiency in the body
The lack of any vitamin or mineral in the body always manifests itself in the form of health problems. Most of all, people suffer from iron deficiency, because they do not get enough of it with food. Its deficiency in the body is indicated by serious symptoms.
The first sign of iron deficiency is fatigue. It appears if it is not enough for the production of hemoglobin – the protein responsible for carrying oxygen throughout the body. As a result, the body lacks energy.
With iron deficiency, nails become brittle and the skin becomes pale. In addition, inflammation of the tongue (glossitis) can be a symptom of its deficiency due to a decrease in the level of the protein myoglobin, necessary for muscle health.
A serious sign of iron deficiency in children and adults is low cognitive abilities. Schoolchildren who lack this mineral do worse. Adults who experience a lack of iron have problems with memory and work capacity.
To avoid iron deficiency, eating foods with iron content will help. The recommended daily dose of iron for men is 8 mg, for women – 18 mg. Its vegetable sources are nuts, vegetables, fruits, legumes and cereals. Animal food is also rich in iron – beef, fish, chicken meat.
