For decades, people have been looking for simple remedies against weight gain: from fad diets to detox teas. A new study has shown that many herbal and dietary supplements that are claimed to help in the fight against excess weight do not actually work.
Researchers from the University of Sydney in Australia presented the first global review of the effectiveness of supplements in almost 20 years. for weight loss Scientists shared their findings at the European Congress on Obesity.
More than 10,000 overweight or obese people participated in the study. Ultimately, the researchers found that most herbal and dietary supplements do not lead to clinically significant weight loss.
“Our careful evaluation of the available evidence suggests that these supplements cannot be recommended for weight loss. Even though most appear to be safe for short-term consumption, they will not provide clinically significant weight loss,” emphasizes the doctor.
