Drinking lots of water doesn't help you lose weight

Scientists have concluded that the claims about the great benefits of water for weight loss are not true.
Scientists representing Aston University recalled the existing opinion about the benefits of water in saving from excess weight. You can often hear that drinking enough water allows you to gain a slimmer figure – this is due to the fact that water burns calories more actively and reduces appetite.
But scientists have concluded that such qualities of water are a myth. Drinking a lot of water does not help you lose weight.
In one study, volunteers drank an additional 500 ml – its intake really accelerated the fat burning process: energy expenditure at rest increased by almost 24 percent. But the acceleration of metabolism lasted only an hour, and the calories lost in their diet were replenished with a small amount of food (for example, a quarter of a cookie).
“The actual net increase in calories burned due to water is insignificant,” the experts stated.
According to another study, drinking water before meals helped middle-aged and elderly people lose up to two kilograms, but did not have a similar effect in young people. These results still need to be tested again.
