DTEK said that hourly schedules of turning off the lights could be implemented in Kyiv
In Kyiv, restrictions on the supply of electricity may be introduced. Energy experts ask Kyiv residents to reduce energy consumption during peak hours.
Why they may introduce blackout schedules
The main reasons for such a step:
- Increased electricity consumption: With the onset of spring, there is an increase in the need for electricity.
- Infrastructure damage due to shelling: Russian military attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities lead to their destruction and insufficient electricity supply.
βIn case of increased demand for electricity consumption, taking into account the damage to the network that exists today, we have the possibility of using schedules if our energy facilities will be bombarded in the future.β β emphasized Bondar.
DTEK stated that they are actively working to reduce the possibility of massive power outages:
- Restorative measures: teams of specialists carry out repair work to restore damaged elements of the power supply system.
- Calls for economical consumption: DTEK appeals to the residents of Kyiv to use electricity sparingly, in particular during peak consumption, which is in the morning ( from 7 to 11 a.m.) and evening (from 5 to 11 p.m.) hours.
