Eating foods rich in carbohydrates for breakfast can exacerbate hunger, which contributes to weight gain in the long term.
Bananas are one of the most versatile and delicious fruits loved by people all over the world. They provide energy, contain many nutrients, and are also affordable. However, health experts warn: bananas should not be an independent product for breakfast, and they should not be eaten on an empty stomach.
According to experts, bananas, among other things, contain a large amount of carbohydrates and natural sugars. Thus, the fruit contributes to an increase in blood sugar levels, which negatively affects appetite mechanisms – soon after a sweet snack on an empty stomach, a person begins to feel hungry again and look for food.
“Various studies have shown that regular consumption of carbohydrate-rich foods for breakfast increases hunger and increases the risk of gaining extra pounds in the long term,” the publication reported.
Another reason why bananas are not recommended to be eaten on an empty stomach is their content of fruit acid, which irritates the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract. When consumed on an empty stomach, any fruit (bananas are no exception) can cause serious digestive problems.
It should not be forgotten that bananas are high in magnesium. Eating them on an empty stomach can cause an imbalance between calcium and magnesium in the blood, with subsequent adverse effects on the cardiovascular system.
What is the best way to eat bananas? Experts advise eating them with other foods to balance carbohydrates and sugar.
