Eggshell: which plants are useful and how to fertilize

Feeding is gaining popularity among summer residents- enthusiasts who do not always get the maximum benefit from natural fertilizer. Eggshell is not suitable for all plants, so it does not make sense to apply it everywhere.

Details

Crops that respond positively to eggshell feeding include:

  • cabbage;
  • tomatoes;
  • pepper;
  • eggplant;
  • beetroot;
  • onion;
  • carrot;
  • turnip;
  • currant.

Before use, grind the shell using a coffee grinder or another convenient method. Pour into a container, fill with warm water and close with a lid.

Put the mixture in a dark place for 2 weeks. A sign of readiness of the fertilizer will be a cloudy color and an unpleasant smell. The solution is diluted with water in a ratio of 1:3 and the plants are watered.

There is a more complicated but more effective recipe. Take a 100-liter container, fill 1/3 with chopped greens without seeds, add 1 kg of sodium humate and 600 g of eggshell powder. Fill with water and leave to infuse for 2 weeks, stirring regularly.

The finished solution is diluted with water in proportions of 1:10. It is used during watering as a top dressing.
