Details
It is best to plant cabbage where the predecessors were nightshades, cucumbers, legumes, carrots, onions and garlic. In the place where cabbage grew, it can be replanted only after 4 years.
It is better to plant seedlings in open soil on a cloudy or rainy day. If you plant it in the sun, it will wither and will not be accepted.
Early varieties of cabbage can be planted at a distance of 30 cm from each other. Seedlings of mid-ripening varieties at a distance of 45 cm, and late varieties at a distance of 50-60 cm. Dig the bed, make holes. At the bottom of each hole, you can pour some wood ash and eggshell. If your area has very dense soil, you can add a little sand to each hole.
It is recommended to plant cabbage seedlings so that they hide in the hole until the first real leaves. Fill the hole with soil and compact it.
Make a small trench around the cabbage so that water reaches the roots. Water the cabbage thoroughly. In sunny weather, it should be covered with something so that it does not burn. Do not allow the soil to dry out, loosen the bark so that the plant can “breathe”.
