Experienced gardeners told when and how to plant watermelon seeds

So that watermelons grow big – choose a sunny place for them. But the soil must also be suitable, because not all soils can wait for a watermelon harvest.

Details

Watermelons grow best on sandy and loamy soil. There will be no harvest in dense and clayey soils. Watermelon will grow well after such crops as: wheat, carrots, cabbage, potatoes, onions and legumes. Do not plant watermelons in the same place for two years in a row.

You can plant them with seeds in the soil when all the spring frosts have passed, which is about mid-May. Before planting, it is advisable to soak the seeds in warm water so that the embryos hatch.

Make holes, the distance between them should be 25 cm. In order for the watermelons to bear fruit, you need to feed them.

Mix humus, ash and soil and put about 1 tablespoon of this mixture into each hole. Place two seeds on top of the mixture and sprinkle with humus.

Since watermelon likes loose soil, it will be better for it to make its way into the world. Watermelons do not like excessive watering. Thanks to a powerful root system, they can take water from the lower layers of the soil.
