Experts explained how alcohol affects sleep
Consumption of alcohol, even in small doses, has a negative effect on the body. It has a detrimental effect on the nervous system and causes many unpleasant consequences.
Experts categorically do not recommend drinking alcohol before going to bed. Although alcohol can make you fall asleep quickly, its effects prevent the body from restoring energy during sleep. The brain cannot fully relax, which leads to a difficult awakening.
Another reason why alcohol does not contribute to healthy sleep is dehydration of the body. One glass of wine leads to the loss of 800 ml of liquid, three times more than the body supplies. Experts draw attention to the fact that coffee only enhances this effect. Slightly salted water can help restore fluid balance, which compensates for sodium loss. Foods capable of balancing the balance of potassium will also be useful – for example, a juicy kiwi fruit.
