Health experts from the United States are warning people against washing raw chicken before cooking it. According to experts, this action threatens serious health problems.
Despite the warnings, many people continue to wash raw chicken before cooking. The essence of the health threat lies in the fact that microbes instantly spread from meat to kitchen utensils. Chicken is often contaminated with campylobacteriosis bacteria, and sometimes salmonella and Clostridium perfringens. Getting them into the body threatens food poisoning, experts warn.
Other safety measures include placing meat in the refrigerator in a plastic bag to prevent raw juices from getting on other products. It is equally important to wash your hands with warm soapy water for 20 seconds before and after handling chicken. The same list includes handling on a specially designated board. In no case should you put cooked food or fresh products on a plate, cutting board or other surface that previously contained raw food.
Signs of poisoning include: high fever, diarrhea that does not pass for more than 3 days, blood in the stool, prolonged vomiting, signs of dehydration, including dry mouth and dizziness. Self-medication is categorically not allowed.
