Old age is not an excuse to give up favorite things, but some dietary habits are still worth reconsidering. Experts note that there is one type of meat that should be excluded from the menu.
It is about minced turkey. Its use can put you at risk of serious food poisoning. Experts analyzed 257 samples of ground turkey and found that more than 90 percent of the product was contaminated with harmful bacteria.
The team determined that 69 percent of the ground samples were contaminated with enterococci, and 60 percent contained E. coli.
In addition, they found traces of salmonella in 15 percent of the samples, as well as Staphylococcus aureus, an infection that can be fatal in immunocompromised people.
What's worse, the study found that almost all the disease-causing organisms 257 samples were resistant to one or more antibiotics.
