Experts have named foods that can increase the risk of death by 40%

According to the British Heart Foundation, heart and circulatory diseases claim millions of lives every year. Studies have identified one specific group of products that can increase the risk of death from heart disease by 40 percent.

A recent study highlighted that ultra-pasteurized food poses a higher risk of death from heart disease in people with a history of heart attacks.

Cardiovascular disease is usually associated with blood clots or the buildup of fatty deposits in the arteries. The study found that ultra-pasteurized foods may increase the risk of death from all causes in people with heart disease.

The study used the NOVA classification to define ultra-processed foods, which describes this type of food as containing many ingredients, including food additives, processed ingredients and ingredients rarely used in home cooking.

Processed ingredients ranged from hydrogenated fats to modified starches, while rarely used ingredients were defined as soy protein or mechanically separated meat.

Eating a diet consisting of these foods is a high-risk factor for people with heart disease. Following this diet is a “major public health concern.” This means that if you fall into a category of patients with heart disease, you can switch to a healthier diet. Other ways to prevent heart disease range from exercise to reducing alcohol consumption.
