Experts have named the condition that leads to hair loss after 50 years

Hair loss is seriously affected by psychological discomfort. Some hair thinning is inevitable with age, but the main factors that increase the risk of hair loss can be controlled.

These include hormonal imbalance, stress and even the choice of comb. If you are over 50 years old, inflammation may be the cause of hair loss. Experts explain why.

According to Ben Behnam, MD, medical director of hair loss treatment company Happy Head, inflammation can damage hair follicles, which in turn can lead to hair loss. One of the many causes of inflammation in the body is an autoimmune reaction. In this case, the body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissue.

“This can happen in a number of autoimmune diseases, such as lupus erythematosus or alopecia areata. Both conditions cause focal hair loss,” says Cheryl Rosen, MD, board-certified dermatologist and director of dermatology at BowTiedLife.

Another inflammatory condition that can cause hair loss is psoriasis. In this case, the immune system recycles skin cells too quickly, causing peeling. However, these flakes should not be confused with ordinary dandruff. It can be provoked by dry skin, fungi or sensitivity to hair care products. According to The International Journal of Trichology, this condition affects about 50 percent of adults.
