Experts have told when it is necessary to prune roses in autumn

In the fall, roses need to be prepared for winter. This means that the plans include pruning and covering the bushes. But do not rush to prune the flowers ahead of time. Experts explained why you need to wait a bit.
When to prune and cover
First of all, you need to wait until the sap flow in the roses stops. You can orient yourself by the falling leaves, but this does not happen with all varieties. Therefore, you should pay attention to the trees. When they become bare, roses also enter a phase of rest and slowing down of sap flow.
You also need to take into account the temperature regime. The thermometer will show -3 and -5. It is during this period that you need to start pruning roses.
It is not recommended to carry out early autumn pruning. In sunny and warm weather, which can often be in October, the rose will begin to behave actively. The buds will wake up and begin to grow shoots. This will prevent the root system from preparing for winter.
You also don't need to rush to cover roses. Experts recommend doing this when the air temperature is stable at low levels.
