Experts named vegetables that should not be washed before eating

If you cook from fresh vegetables, most often they need to be washed and cleaned before use. However, experts warn that there are vegetables that should not be pre-washed. These are prepackaged leafy greens that have been washed by the manufacturer.
“One more wash at home can increase the risk of greens being contaminated with bacteria from your sink, counter, cutting board, knives, colanders, salad bowls, bowls or other objects or surfaces during the washing process,” says Neva Cochran, nutritionist, food communications consultant.
Packaged leafy greens, on which there is a label stating that they are ready for use, are produced at the facility, which meets the necessary cleanliness standards.
As Dr. Randy Worobo, associate professor of the Department of Food Sciences at Cornell University, notes, pre-washed greens are treated with a mixture of water and a food disinfectant. This mixture is not dangerous at the low levels that remain on the green.
