As reported in the journal Frontiers in Nutrition, scientists from the University of Oxford, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Bristol studied the complex factors affecting the risk of developing heart and vascular diseases.
As the results of the study showed, eating vegetables does not guarantee protection against cardiovascular diseases.
“The protective effect of consuming vegetables can be explained by “residual distortion”. It manifests itself in the distortion of research results as a result of insufficiently detailed information, incorrect classification or interpretation of data,” experts note.
