Experts tell us what to eat and drink with low blood pressure

High blood pressure is talked about much more often than low blood pressure. And this is quite logical: hypertension (chronically high blood pressure) is classified as a pathological condition that significantly increases the risk of heart attack, stroke, kidney failure and other serious diseases. Hypotension (chronically low blood pressure) is simply a feature of the body, the unpleasant sensations of which, if necessary, can be easily corrected with the help of nutrition. Experts from the Baazar publication told what to eat and drink with low blood pressure to improve well-being.

What they told

The most common advice that all hypotonics know is to drink more coffee. Caffeine really helps to increase blood pressure, tones up and improves well-being. However, it is important to remember two things here. First, even if caffeine helps you to raise your blood pressure, you should not forget about a sense of proportion. Excess caffeine threatens with many unpleasant consequences for the body, so try not to drink more than 2 cups a day. Secondly, caffeine is addictive quite quickly and ceases to tone up the body. So you should not get too carried away with the drink – otherwise it will stop working on you.

Among the foods important for the hypotonic diet, doctors single out fatty fish. It is worth eating it at least 3 times a week, and better more often. It not only helps to increase pressure, but also strengthens the entire body: starting from muscles and bones, ending with the brain and heart. The list of recommendations also includes starchy foods – it is important that the starch is resistant, otherwise such food will bring extra pounds instead of health benefits.

Hypotensive patients are recommended by doctors daily with eat 500g of fruit and 500g of vegetables – the advice seems to be banal, but to normalize your well-being helps.

Another wonderful remedy is bitter chocolate, but you should treat it more carefully and not eat more than 30g per day.

To somewhat controversial, but working (when experts include salt and red wine as products. Salty food copes well with hypotension: sodium binds water in the body, which increases blood volume and, as a result, increases blood pressure. Red wine is a source of antioxidants and beneficial plant acids that not only normalize blood pressure, but also support heart health and skin beauty. However, no one canceled the damage from ethyl alcohol. Therefore, both salt and red wine really help from reduced pressure, but you should not get carried away with these means.
