Experts from Germany told how to take a shower correctly and often. According to experts, excessive hygiene can greatly damage the skin.
Dermatologists note that the best “body cleanser” is water. Active detergents, such as shower gels or shampoos, should be used only consciously and sparingly. An ultra-thin film of sweat, sebum and water protects the body from dehydration and pathogenic microorganisms.
This also includes maintaining skin elasticity. Excessive showering disrupts this balance, so pathogens, allergens and chemicals can more easily penetrate the body. This kind of cleanliness is also associated with an increase in unpleasant odor, as pathogenic bacteria multiply.
People with normal skin type can take a shower every day. It is worth understanding that for good body hygiene and smooth skin, it is enough to clean delicate areas (armpits, intimate areas) every day.
As for sensitive skin type, showering should be short. It is advisable to repeat the procedure 2-3 times a week. Since shampoos contain aggressive and degreasing ingredients, it is better to wash off the composition so that it does not get on other parts of the body.
Among general tips: the duration of washing the body is no more than seven to ten minutes, the ideal water temperature is 36 degrees, the use of mild liquid soap with the natural pH of the skin (5.5), the rejection of antiseptics, avoiding the use of scrubs because they remove the natural protective layer on the skin.
Dermatologists do not recommend drying yourself with a towel, and if there is a need for a second shower after physical activity, it is better to do it without soap. For dry skin types, you should use moisturizers with urea.
