About blueberries in the fall
October is the month when you need to start planting blueberries. During this period, the bush begins to slow down in development and prepares for wintering. You can plant a berry plant under the following conditions:
Soil. For blueberries, you need pH 4.0-5.0. It should be loose, well-drained and moisture-rich.
Hole. Dig a hole 40-50 cm deep and up to 1 m wide. Make a drainage layer of bark or sand. Mostly the first option is used. The hole is filled with a substrate of acidic peat and rotted coniferous litter. Or you can buy ready for blueberries. 100 g of sulfur-based acidifier is also placed in the hole. For nutrition, 50 g of potassium monophosphate and 100 g of superphosphate. Mix everything and place the seedling. Cover with earth, water and mulch.
Wintering. If frosts are approaching, blueberries will need to be covered with agrofibre and tied with twine. In severe frosts, you can use several layers of material, for example, white spunbond.
