Most people on a diet are convinced of the dangers of so-called fast carbohydrates. A new study shows that there is no difference between fast or slow carbohydrates when it comes to weight gain or weight loss.
Fast or slow carbohydrates are called according to their glycemic index. In other words, if after eating a certain food product, the sugar level in a person's blood rises sharply, and then also drops sharply, then these are fast carbohydrates.
It is believed that such fluctuations are harmful, as they contribute to overeating due to an acute feeling of hunger. . If the rise and fall of sugar indicators occurs more smoothly, then these are slow carbohydrates with a low glycemic index.
Scientists believe that products with a high index contribute to the accumulation of fat and increase the risk of obesity. However, observations of nearly two million adults in 34 previous studies show that the effect of fast carbohydrates on weight gain is no more significant than the effect of slow carbohydrates.
