Fatty liver disease: signs of liver damage due to excessive alcohol consumption

A team of specialists at Delamere, a private rehabilitation clinic, points to “alarming signs” of liver problems. Experts say it's important to recognize these signs early to limit long-term effects.
Physical signs include unexplained weight loss, fatigue, and a persistent lack of energy or appetite. There may also be frequent feelings of nausea, as well as excessive vomiting and diarrhea.
“Someone with alcoholic liver damage may also often experience dry mouth and excessive thirst,” the experts added. “Even after drinking a lot of water or soft drinks, a person cannot be satisfied. A person suffering from alcoholic liver disease may experience pain or discomfort in the upper right side of the abdomen. This is the result of swelling of the liver from excessive alcohol consumption.”
Any pain or tenderness throughout the abdomen or stomach area may be a sign of liver damage. So see your doctor right away if you experience any of these.
More severe liver damage can lead to persistent high fever, fever and chills.
Liver damage can also lead to milder formation of bruises on the skin, there may be frequent nosebleeds and bleeding gums. Red patches may appear on the skin of the hands and feet, or the skin may appear abnormally dark or light. Clubbed fingertips are also a sign of liver disease, in addition to unusual hair loss.
