Five clear signs of diabetes that appear in the morning

According to doctors, blood sugar levels in people with prediabetes or diabetes increase in the morning.

The phenomenon of “morning dawn”, “dawn effect” is a natural increase in blood sugar levels that occurs in the morning. This occurs due to hormonal changes in the body – low insulin production leads to an increase in the concentration of glucose in the blood.

The syndrome is characteristic of patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, but can also occur in healthy people (asymptomatically).

Dawn phenomenon can be identified by five key symptoms, the study says.

  • Weakness
  • Nausea
  • Blurred vision
  • Mild disorientation
  • Thirst

These symptoms can be seen in about 50 percent of people with type 2 diabetes.

— These signs are typical of people with endocrinological disorders. In healthy people, fasting blood sugar levels are minimal, but in people with diabetes, glucose levels in the morning remain above normal. The dawn phenomenon is associated with natural biorhythms, in which the production of insulin, which lowers sugar, is suppressed during sleep, and the levels of hormones that increase it, on the contrary, increase. This is, for example, cortisol, — the authors of the study note.

It is important to eat right, do moderate exercise, and get enough sleep. These simple, at first glance, tips are vital for diabetics.

Scientists have found that lack of sleep grossly disrupts metabolism and reduces the ability of insulin to regulate blood glucose levels. This threatens the development of obesity and type 2 diabetes. If a person, for example, has slept only four hours in total over three nights, the level of fatty acids in the blood remains at its peak between 4 and 9 am, and under normal conditions it falls during the night.

Classic signs of type 2 diabetes

  • constant dry mouth,
  • constant thirst,
  • dry skin and itching,
  • poor wound healing,
  • weakness and sweating.
