Five foods and drinks that should not be combined with medications

The foods and drinks that we consume every day affect medications in different ways. Therefore, be sure to study the instructions for the medications before taking them.

The medications themselves can react with nutrients. And this can have a bad effect on your health.

So what is better not to drink after you have taken the medicine?

Alcohol. Because of this, alcohol may be worse removed from the body. You may also experience increased blood pressure, redness of the skin, rapid pulse, vomiting.

Coffee and tea. If you are taking medication prescribed for iron deficiency anemia, for a while (two hours before and after taking the medication) give up coffee, tea, and dairy products. It is best to take these medications with orange juice or a vitamin C supplement on an empty stomach.

Grapefruit. It can have a negative impact on your health if you are taking cholesterol-lowering medications, medications for heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmias), antipsychotics, or medications to suppress the immune system after an organ transplant.

Green leafy vegetables. Spinach, cabbage, broccoli, and prunes are rich in vitamin A, which helps blood clot. Therefore, it is better not to eat them if you are taking blood-thinning medications.

Licorice root. It contains substances that affect blood pressure. Therefore, licorice root can cause arrhythmia even in a healthy person.
