In every garden, in every dacha and near houses you can always see these flowers. No wonder, because they are very popular and beautiful. Of course, we are talking about marigolds. It is difficult to find a more popular flower in our area.
Is it possible to sow in autumn
Florists say that marigolds can be sown in winter. They will not disappear, and in the spring they will sprout earlier than those planted as seedlings. In order not to waste time on flower work in spring, sowing can be done in autumn.
How to sow
The main thing in this matter is to correctly determine the time of planting. Marigolds are sown when the ground is slightly frozen. This will prevent them from sprouting prematurely. If the heat returns and the seeds get wet, they will rot.
There are no special conditions for the soil, but it is recommended to diversify the clay structure with peat and sand. If possible, prepare the flowerbed in advance.
To improve the soil and nutrition, use humus. Consumption is 2 kg per 1 sq.m. Add ash, which will become the potash component. Consumption of 1 liter per 1 sq.m. Dig up and leave until frost.
Then you can sow seeds in the furrows and sprinkle with soil. To protect against freezing, mulch is used, which can be made of straw or humus. When there is snow, it should be thrown over the flower bed. This will protect against freezing and become a source of moisture in the spring period.
