A person unconsciously chooses food by color, scientists have discovered the importance of shades in the emergence of a feeling of hunger. For example, green is associated with healthy and wholesome food, while red is associated with something spicy and invigorating.
Researchers conducted an experiment that showed how people evaluate images of red and green foods, such as cucumbers and tomatoes. It turned out that red food seems to be better.
It is noted that red vegetables and fruits are inherently healthier and contain fewer calories than some green foods. In particular, pomegranates are rich in antioxidants, and tomatoes are rich in lycopene, which is more beneficial for health than a handful of caloric pistachios.
According to Raffaelli Rumiati, a professor of cognitive neurobiology who participated in the study, this behavior can be explained by evolution visual system, which has learned to easily identify and recognize the most nutritious berries in nature and distinguish them from ordinary ones.
