Vitamin D deficiency can lead to various health problems, including bone deformities and pain. Experts distinguish four signs that will indicate a lack of this vitamin.
According to Cleveland Clinic specialists, vitamin D deficiency can be difficult to diagnose because the symptoms are often “smoothed out.” Because of this, the condition is often confused with other diseases. The main signs of substance deficiency include:
- bone pain;
- fatigue;
- muscle weakness and pain;

According to the US National Library of Medicine, most often people with vitamin D deficiency experience lower back pain and bone pain. For example, a review of 81 studies found that patients with arthritis and muscle pain tended to have lower levels of vitamin D.
When it comes to mood swings, one of the signs of vitamin D deficiency can be to be depression, the doctors of the Cleveland Clinic said. Although the link between this condition and vitamin D deficiency has been scientifically proven, more research is needed for more accurate conclusions, the scientists noted.
