Four rules you need to know when caring for calathea

Calatheas come from tropical regions. An exotic that has successfully taken root in our homes. Florists are happy to grow this beautiful plant. There is more than one variety that grows successfully at home, but they all have some requirements for the specifics of care.
About calathea and its requirements
Since the plant is tropical, it needs moisture. By the way, the plant accumulates it in the root system. It needs constant moisture. The better and more systematically you do this, the better the calathea will feel.
The second point of the program is the soil. It should be extremely loose. This can be achieved by adding leavening agents. They should make up to half the volume of soil in the pot. For this purpose, the following are used:
- foam glass;
- coconut chips;
- perlite;
- coniferous bark;
- zeolite;
- diatomite.
For disinfection purposes, it is recommended to add 5% charcoal to the total mass. To ensure constant moisture, it is recommended to use wick watering. Calathea responds very well to it.
Calathea needs to be provided with diffused light. There should be plenty of light, but not direct sunlight. Please note that calatheas are very picky about drafts. Therefore, take care of your beautiful plants so that they delight with their decorativeness and grow actively.
