Four types of food and drinks that cause tooth decay

Many of us forget that while leading a healthy lifestyle, it is important to take care of the condition of the oral cavity. Some foods can contribute to the development of cavities and the appearance of other problems with teeth and gums. Here's what to avoid to prevent this from happening.

Scientific studies show that cavities can occur due to various foods. And if left untreated, you can even lose your teeth. Dr. Carey Goldstein of the Goldstein Dental Center in Atlanta told us which foods will cause your teeth to rot.

Sweet drinks. If you regularly drink such drinks (sodas, energy drinks, iced teas), you can damage your teeth without even realizing it. The sugar contained in these drinks easily sticks to your teeth, which leads to the formation of plaque and cavities.

Sticky foods. These include dried fruits and candies. The fact is that they get stuck between your teeth and can be difficult to remove by brushing your teeth alone. In addition, they often contain sugar.

Acidic foods. Tomatoes, citrus fruits, and vinegar can weaken enamel. If you want to eat them, be sure to rinse your mouth with water afterward.

Refined carbohydrates. For example, these are chips or bread. Instead, it is better to choose whole grains, as well as fruits and vegetables.
