Four types of mulch for winter protection of raspberry roots

Winter is a cold season, before which you need to have time to prepare the plants. Raspberry is also on the list of such plants. The root system is located quite close to the surface, so it needs protection. Thanks to mulching, the roots will be protected from freezing.
Types of mulching
The following types of mulching are most often used in summer cottages:
Tyrsa. A popular and convenient material for mulching. Long-lasting in its effect, and in another 2-3 years it can turn into humus. The mulch layer should be about 10 cm.
Peat. If the soil on the site is heavy, the peat mulch layer should be about 10 cm. But 7 cm will be enough for the winter.
Straw. Good and dry material. Straw is placed 10 cm high. It should be laid out near each raspberry bush.
Ripe leaves. It is recommended to use leaves that have been rotting for 2 years. Under such shelter, raspberries will definitely not freeze during the winter.
