In case of atrial fibrillation (the so-called atrial fibrillation) – a fairly common heart disease today – the risk of blood clots increases. This, in turn, is a provocateur of strokes and heart attacks.
A large study among the inhabitants of Norway with the participation of more than 20 thousand patients, who were followed for 20 years, demonstrated that moderate physical activity (simple, but healthy walking, cycling four hours a week or more) can reduce the risk of any form of atrial fibrillation by 19%. Cardiologist Tamaz Gagloshvili reported this on Instagram.
“It is necessary to give preference to low-intensity and moderate exercise – the specialist explained. – These are daily walks, yoga, pilates, swimming at a moderate speed, an exercise bike or elliptical at a moderate pace. He emphasized that with very high and intense physical exertion (for example, regular heavy training, playing sports or participating in serious sports competitions), the risk of a persistent form of atrial fibrillation is high.
The cardiologist added that with atrial fibrillation the heart beats chaotically and irregularly. For this reason, it is necessary to monitor your heart rate during training, and if it becomes bad, you should stop and stop training.
