One of the most famous options for breakfast is oatmeal. However, not everyone knows about its true benefits.
Oatmeal is rich in many useful substances. At the same time, it can be useful not only for health care, but also for appearance – for example, hair and skin. The fact is that masks and creams are often made on the basis of oatmeal. What is oatmeal good for?
Cholesterol
Oats contain fiber called beta-glucan. It helps reduce the level of “bad” cholesterol without affecting the level of “good”.
According to one Australian study, oat fiber is more effective in reducing cholesterol levels than wheat. The study also indicates that oatmeal or bran may actually reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. And this, at a minimum, is what is necessary for longevity.
Against cancer
A set of 12 studies involving more than 800,000 people showed that daily intake a large bowl of oatmeal can reduce the risk of dying from cancer by 20%. Consumption of fiber can also reduce the risk of colon cancer, say scientists.
