Scientists explain the benefits of beets in preventing the development of dangerous diseases by dietary nitrates contained in them, and currants, in turn, are rich in anthocyanins (plant pigments) important for health.< /p>
According to scientists, these products can:
- reduce the risk of developing coronary heart disease;
- reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes;
- improve lipid profile indicators (triglycerides, total cholesterol, and HDL cholesterol).
“However, the mechanisms by which this occurs are not clear, and further research is needed to to strengthen the currently limited evidence”, the scientists concluded.
