From hypertension and high cholesterol: named useful sweet product

High blood' high blood pressure increases the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, brain diseases and others. The main risk factors for hypertension include heredity, excess weight, poor diet, bad habits and stress.

Scientists believe that it is possible to improve indicators by changing the diet and adding certain products to it. In a study published on the website of the National Library of Medicine, it is said that fruits and vegetables lower blood pressure thanks to the antioxidants they contain.

The popular sweet dried fruit prunes can help with this. 259 people participated in the study. One group ate prunes and drank plum juice, while the other drank only a glass of water early in the morning on an empty stomach. Blood pressure was measured every two weeks for eight weeks, and blood samples were taken from participants at the beginning and end of the study.

It turned out that prunes did lower blood pressure in study participants. In addition, in the group that consumed dried fruit, the indicators of “bad” LDL cholesterol were lower than in the group that drank plain water. “The obtained data predict the protective effect of prunes on the cardiovascular system,” the scientists concluded.
