Vitamins are usually taken in the form of supplements. However, many of them can be obtained from foods.
For example, vitamin C. What are its real benefits?
Improves heart health
According to one American study, higher plasma levels of vitamin C may be associated with a reduced risk of heart disease.
In addition, a meta-analysis of 13 randomized controlled clinical trials showed that four weeks 500 mg or higher of vitamin C lead to a “significant reduction” in LDL cholesterol.
Protects against high blood sugar
One study found that regular consumption of vitamin C supplements (1000 mg) regulates blood sugar in patients with type 2 diabetes. Vitamin C has also been found to lower fasting blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. This was also the case with the level of glucose in the blood after a meal.
